Phosphorus (part of ZDDP) is in much lower concentrations in the standard synthetic oils, and my understanding is that our engines were designed and built with the intention that this additive would be in the lubricating oil. Modern engines do not require the same additives, and as a result, most oil blends reflect this need, or lack there of. WARNING: I lack industry backing
